On Nov 20th, 2015, Adele released ’25’her 3rd solo album. Within the first 24 hours, Adele crossed 900,000 albums on iTunes. This number does not count other music retailers such as Target, Amazon, Wal-Mart, GooglePlay, etc. With 6 days to go, Adele is expected to break the record for most albums sold in a week, becoming the 20th album in music history to sell over 1 million copies and the 2nd act to sell over 2 million copies. Before Adele’s ’25’ release, she already had over 500,000 albums PRE-ORDERED. This number started to accumulate back in Oct 2015, when her record breaking single ‘Hello’ was released. Starting Nov 20th, 2015 at 12:00am, Adele has only sold 400,000 albums on iTunes alone in the first day. Beyonce self-tilted album sold 430,000 albums in the first 24 hours. Adele is scheduled to sell over 2 million albums in the first week (US sales) and over 3 million albums worldwide. The act in music history to push these numbers was Nynsc ‘No strings attached; back in 2000. Nynsc sold 2.4 million albums in a week, setting the record for the biggest week sale in music history. Can Adele break this record? Doubt it!

Her new single ‘Hello’ has already broken quite a few records. So far! it debut the biggest first week sales for a digital single with 1.1 million digital singles sold in the US alone. The only single to sell 1 million or more singles was Elton John “Candle in the wind’ rendition as a tribute to Princess Diana. He sold over 3 million physical singles in a week. The following week, he sold over 1 million physical singles.

Adele set to debut 1.5-1.7 million albums, Breaking Britney Spears 1st Week Record Sale

image

In the first week of it’s release, Adele new single ‘Hello’ has already moved a few artist from the record breaking top. ‘Hello’ video is the most streamed video in 24 hours and the fastest video to become VeVo certified with over 100 million views in less than a week. ‘Hello’ is close to selling 1 million singles in the first week and was already reported to have sold over 800k.

According to @chartnews and @louievreveals, Adele third album set to be released on Nov 25th will become the 20th album to sell over 1 million albums in a week with 1.5-1.7 million albums.

Impressive!

If the predictions are correct, she will break Britney Spears biggest first week sell week by a female artist. In 2000, Britney released her sophomore album ‘Oops! …I Did it Again” which debuted 1.319 million albums in the first week. This record set unmatched for 15 years. Last year, Taylor Swift ‘1989’ fell short by 100k but Adele is expected to shatter this record with no problem.

Adele breaks Whitney Houston records for most singles sold in a week.

imageimage

FEMALE RECORD:

In 1992, Whitney Houston released a rendition to Dolly Parton #1 single, “I will always love you”. Whitney Houston’ cover sold 632,000 copies in a week. This record was set by Nielson Soundscan as the most physical singles sold in a week. This record would go on to be unmatched forever because physical singles are close to extinction with the new digital era. There is a BIG difference between physical singles sold and digital downloads. Physical singles required you to go to your local retailer to purchase music in person while digital singles can be purchased right from your finger tips.

This week, Adele broke Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’ digital record and set a new one with over 750,000 singles sold and is expected to be the first artist in music history to sell one million singles in a week. With almost 1 million singles sold and almost 100k video streams in a week’s period, Adele has already reserved her spot atop of Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and is expected to stay there for awhile.

Let’s be honest! Rihanna is the only artist that can move any artist from the number #1 spot on Billboard Hot 100. She is expected to drop her new single and new album ‘Anti’ ANY day now.

Congratulations to Adele on all her success. Her new album drops on Nov 20th and predictions by @louievreveals are 1 million or more albums sold in the first week. If this happens, Adele will become the first artist in history to debut 1 million singles and 1 million albums.

Biggest Single Sale Week:

Adele ‘Hello’ 800k and counting (Digital Only)

Whitney Houston ‘I will always love you’  632k (Physical only)

Good Luck Adele!

Rihanna Pays ‘Fan’ College Tuition By Donating Money at Tidal Event.

Back in July, Rihanna kidnapped 80 fans and their 1 extra guest by blind-folding them and taking them to a secret location. Once the fans arrived at the undisclosed location, fans were greeted with an EXCLUSIVE screening of #BBHMM ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ video. Fans were asked to sign confidentiality forms and turn over all electronic devices before they were kidnapped. After the screening of the video, Rihanna appears to conversate with her fans and asked them for their opinion of her debut self-directed video.

After the Q&A, Rihanna came to have a meet & greet with her fans. She had no security and a cup of liquor to ‘turn-up’ with her fans. One fan by the name of Louis Jones (Twitter: @louievreveals Instagram: @teacher2masters2phd ) started to have a conversation with Rihanna. You could hear him verbalizing all of her accomplishments. He spoke of her 13 #1 singles on Billboard Hot 100, 26 top ten hits on Billboard, her 100 million singles certified by RIAA making her the only artist in history to accomplish this, and how Rihanna is the Best-selling Black Female Artist today & Second overall female only behind Madonna. You could see Rihanna begin to get teary eyed and was sooo shy as the entire crowd listened as if he was presented her with ANOTHER Icon award.

She then got up out her seat to hug him and talk with him face to face. He could be seen whispering something to her and she looked surprised. After the conversation, she handed him ‘stacks of money’. The amount is undisclosed but he hugged her tight and he begin to jump up and down as his friend cheered him on. Rihanna told him, “Congratulations Baby, you deserve it, keep going, and I love you”. The entire audience also congratulated him on his gift from Rihanna. Louis is a Graduate student studying Psychology at a Doctorates level. He stated, “I attended the event as a gift to myself for completing Graduate school that week because I couldn’t afford to attend the actual ceremony in Chicago in the upcoming days. Rihanna contribution helped pay for a lot of expenses and a round trip flight to the actual Ceremony. Thank you RiRi”.

After the event, @teacher2masters2phd took to twitter to thank his idol Rihanna for her contribution to his success:

“I seriously want to thank Rihanna @badgalriri for BLESSING me with MONEY to go to graduation. I attended #TidalxRihanna Private Event in Los Angeles on July 1st, I had an entire conversation with her about me and how I’m planning to graduate with my master degrees next week and she reached in her pocket and gave me all the money she had and said CONGRATULATIONS BOO! And how proud she was of Me. I’ve thought of her all day today and I want to THANK HER AGAIN for BLESSING me with what I needed to accept my award. She really saved me. If you were at the event then you know exactly who I am. This is NOT a hoax. I’m crying because Rihanna is everything I ever imagined her to be plus more. She really cared for ALL of her fans. Can the world ACKNOWLEDGE Rihanna (@badgalriri) for being a blessing to me, my family, and everyone. Let’s honor her contribution. Please SHARE.

Katy Perry Shades Taylor Swift, VMA Eligibility Period, & MTV; MTV Avatar pic ‘MTV: White People’

…and the ‘TwitWar’ Continues and Katy Perry just enter the Royal Rumble ring and throws ‘Shade’ at Taylor by tweeting:

Taylor Swift recently released her 4th single ‘Bad Blood’ which is rumored to be a diss song towards Katy Perry over a recent freud over backup dancers. ‘Bad Blood’ artwork consist of a ‘Teapot’ next to a Grammy as an indication that “Katy doesn’t have a Grammy”…*sips tea.

Katy Perry also shades the VMA/MTV eligibility period which is from 7/1/14-7/1/15 in which ‘BBHMM’ by Rihanna barely but did make the deadline. We may have to wait until next year to see if Rihanna can snag her 3rd VOTY (Video of the year) w.

With all the racial interaction in the urban community, @MTV thought it was a smart idea to promote the new documentary series ‘White People’ scheduled to debut soon. During the exact time for being under heat for allegedly ‘shading’ certain video from the major categories for due to sexism, skin color, and self-exploitation-to ADD ‘White People’ as their avatar profile picture on ‘Twitter’. Is this a racially motivated tactic to feed into the drama? If so, BAD IDEA.
